Over the next few days, we plan to profile some of our local candidates in the County Council elections on May 4th. Today it’s Martin Willis who is standing in Malvern Link.

Martin lives locally in Link, has a background in community and social work and was a founder Director of the West Midlands Enterprise Board. Some of Martin’s key campaign pledges are on the issues he cares most passionately about including:

  • standing up for for our children and young people, their parents and carers by fighting to restore fully funded Children’s services and opposing current Tory education plans which would see significant cuts to the funding of Malvern secondary schools
  • protecting Malvern Community Hospital from threats of further downgrading and campaigning to secure funding for social care locally where the Tory County Council has cut £25 million in recent years
  • providing a future for young people in Malvern as part of a Labour team committed to policies which boost apprenticeships, stimulate affordable housing and jobs for young people, and invest in local sports and a fully funded youth service
  • getting Worcestershire moving by improving road, rail and bus services including specific plans such as expanded car parking at Malvern Link rail station and A449 improvements

If elected, Martin will be a strong and positive voice at County Hall in support of Malvern Link residents, businesses and communities.
