Ken Pollock, Tory Councillor for Tenbury on Worcestershire County Council, has been widely criticised for a series of tweets repeating comments by Boris Johnson. These include stating that women who wear the niqab ‘look like letterboxes’ and that ‘bank robbers would find the burqa a good disguise’.
The story was covered in the Kidderminster Shuttle here http://www.kidderminstershuttle.co.uk/news/16419392.display/
West Worcestershire Labour Chair Samantha Charles commented ‘I’m shocked that the Worcestershire County Councillor for Tenbury makes such deeply offensive racist remarks to support Boris Johnson’s islamophobic attacks on Muslim women. I hope the County Council take urgent action against him. He does not represent us here in West Worcestershire’.
It is understood that the County Council are now investigating Cllr Pollock following a complaint by a member of the public.
