Our Pershore branch recently hosted an evening with Hywel Lloyd from Labour Coast and Country, a group which works to ensure Labour policy addresses the issues of rural areas and small towns.

The group identified a range of priority issues including transport (in particular cuts to local bus services); affordable housing; rural poverty; an protecting local health and social care services – and worked on potential local solutions.

Labour Coast and Country has also recently published ‘A Manifesto for 2019: Towns of England, your time has come’ which provides a set of ideas Labour can campaign for in rural areas and smaller towns – and can use in the 2019 District Council election campaign.
