Samantha for Chase
Samantha for Chase

Samantha Charles is standing for Labour in Malvern Chase ward on May 2nd. Here Samantha describes her background and sets out what she will do for local residents if elected.

‘I have lived in Bredon Grove in Malvern Chase since 2000 and grew up in the Worcester area. I’ve been a midwife since 1995 and am now a forensic medical examiner. I have 4 children who all attended local schools, 1 of whom is currently at The Chase.

I was the Labour Party Candidate for West Worcestershire in the 2017 General Election, doubling the vote for Labour as a strong local candidate. I became your Chase Ward Town Councillor in early 2018. Since being elected, I have worked hard on behalf of Chase Ward residents to address concerns such as bin collections and storage at the Brook Farm Drive flats, noise and road debris on Brook Farm Drive during the new housing development and successfully campaigned against the easement at Chance Lane. I successfully obtained special grants for Malvern Hills Foodbank and Malvern Welcomes. In January 2019 I founded Malvern Against Homelessness to support local people who don’t have a safe place to live. I have an excellent attendance record at all committees I am a member of, I am Chair of Operations and Planning and attend other Task and Finish Groups as required.

I would be delighted if you would put your faith in me to represent you for the next four years. I will stand up for local residents against yet more luxury housing developments on our green spaces, for improved local transport services, better employment and educational opportunities and to keep our local high street alive.

Malvern Chase is my home and a great place to live and I’d like to ensure it stays that way.’
